Over mij
My passion for photography began only ten years ago but my passion for travel began more than 40 years ago with an overland journey from England to India.
India stole my heart and became my home for 10 years and Asia became my favourite continent having travelled to almost every Asian country, including countless time to India, eight times to Burma and more recently twice to Bangladesh.
I enjoy taking photographs of people and environmental portraits, I love colour and textures.
Winning Reisreporter van het Jaar in 2013, took me outside my comfort zone. My prize was a photographic trip to Ecuador. A new continent and a new challenge, - landscape photography.
It was a wonderful trip, spectacular scenery from the heights of Andes Mountains to the Amazon Rainforest. The report of my trip is published in the Columbus magazine edition 49 and some photos are here in my gallery.

The tuk-tuk driver's.
Next to our guest house in Kumbakonam, on a stretch of wasteland about the size of three football pitches, was a small shanty town. Many of the Kumbakonam's tuk-tuk drivers lived here. I noticed this tuk-tuk with Che hand painted on the back awning and took a photo. The young daughter came out of their hut, she intrigued in what I was doing, me intrigued by how beautiful she looked in her white school uniform and gleaming gold. I showed her the photo that I had just taken, she stood next to the tuk-tuk, looking first at Che and then at me. I grabbed the opportunity to take her portrait with Che.:)
Hide and Seek
She was playing hide and seek with her brother in the temple in Mandu, with her natrual coloured shawl around her shoulders she blended into her surroundings only those eyes gave her away.......
Farmers - Devotees
I mentioned the other day that a pilgrimage can be taken at any time but mainly just prior or after a big life event. I met these Vishnu devotees in Kanchipuram, they are farmers from the same village, after the terrible, non-existent rains this year their pilgrimage was in hope of a better harvest. We spent some time with them in the temple, friendly people and wonderful photo opportunities.

Heuvel op heuvel af
Wanneer 's morgens vroeg de karavaan met toeristen terug komen na hun nacht in een kamp, loopt de gids voorop. Hij leidt de dromedarissen door de duinen en kiest daarbij het pad waarbij het minst geklommen moet worden, niet alleen makkelijker voor de dieren en de gids zelf ook de toeristen hebben het dan minder moeilijk. Als een dromedaris een heuvel af loopt die steil is, is het lastig om lekker te blijven zitten.
Straatverkoop Praia
Op het eiland Santiago en met name in de hoofdstad Praia, zie je veel straatverkoop. Om zo veel mogelijk klanten te strikken ga je natuurlijk zo dicht mogelijk bij de grote markt staan. Geld voor een kraampje hebben ze niet. Deze drie bieden naast de markt hun waren aan.
Vietnam
In juli en augustus zes weken lang op reis geweest naar Vietnam en Thailand. Deze foto is gemaakt tijdens een motobike tour van Hue naar Hoi An. Tijdens de lunch was dit het uitzicht.
