Kyoto's beautiful Kiyomizudera, taken from the opposite angle to how it is usually shown. On a hill above the city, the whole temple complex is so peaceful. The first time I went there I spent a whole afternoon, walking and sitting under the trees, listening to the silence.

I love how much effort these guys had put into their outfits. The amount of care and style was really amazing to see. The day was so cold, and we were bundled up in fleeces, hats, gloves and scarves, yet these guys managed to look stylish regardless of the weather. Being tourists alongside them at a temple was an interesting experience.

It was a icy cold day in Kyoto, and we saw these girls posing for photos near Kiyomizudera. Their kimonos were so beautiful, and their makeup so elegant.

Wooden buildings, electricity wires, and a pagoda. Walking through some of Kyoto's narrow streets with a multi-layered skyline above. I love the different textures of the wood and tiles.

Walking through the old streets in Kyoto on our way to Kiyomizudera we spied these beautiful women in a carriage. I have heard that often the 'geisha' in Kyoto are not genuine, but are actors in costumes for the sake of tourists. Real or not, they looked so lovely that we asked if we could take a photo.

"I didn't climb Mt. Everest, but I touched it with my heart". De tekst op het 'certificaat' dat we kregen na afloop van deze adembenemende bergvlucht tussen Kathmandu en Mt. Everest. Voor wie de basecamp-ervaring om wat voor reden dan ook overslaat, maar toch Nepal niet wil verlaten zonder Everest te zien. Wel voor eigen risico: nog geen maand later is precies eenzelfde toestel na dezelfde bergvlucht neergestort in de Katmandu-vallei.

Vroeg opgestaan om de zonsopkomst boven de Annapurna-bergketen te zien. De dagen ervoor waren bewolkt, maar die ochtend was kraakhelder. Twee uur lang zitten staren naar het adembenemende uitzicht met in het midden de majesteuze Fishtail.
