Herne Bay, a small seaside town on the Kent coast. As a kid I spent a summer vacation here with my parents in a large caravan park. As a kid there was everything here to make a successful vacation. Sea and sand. Donkeys ride on the beach. Candy floss and ice cream. And to top it all a fun fair on the pier.
As the years passed, more and more Brits travelled to Spain and other warmer climates for their summer vacations and the British seaside towns such as Herne Bay hit a decline.
But now a few are reinventing themselves as retro towns.
We were there this summer, the sea and sand are there of course as is the huge caravan site, but also the donkeys are back on the beach, candy floss and 99 ice creams and a retro fun fair on the pier.
