And of course, the pilgrims have to be fed for the three days that they stay in Chitrakoot. Here you see the milk being cooked which will be mixed with rice, cardamon, cinnamon and sugar added to make kheer, which is normally served in a shallow earthen dish.
Kheer is often served for special festivals and celebrations garnished with strands of saffron and chopped almonds and pistachios. It is delicious eaten hot or cold.
