Our idea was after Bagan and Mount Popa where we could relax and acclimatize was to travel by public bus, train and boat along the mighty Irrawaddy river staying at guesthouses and hotels in small towns and villages. We didn't know how long it would take, or how long we would stay in each place, but we had three weeks. We also knew that some of the travelling would be uncomfortable and basic so our two nights at the Mount Popa Resort was to set us up.
A good choice. Good rooms. Good food. Beautiful well kept gardens. Fantastic views. Peaceful and a lovely pool.
