The highlight of our latest trip has to be the dawn flight over Bagan in a hot-air balloon on the morning of my birthday.
We were picked up from the hotel at 530 am, still dark and driven to the field where to balloons were laid out.Two British companies operate the flights. Balloons over Bagan and Oriental Ballooning. We choose the latter and as TIP it was the best choice as they have smaller baskets. 8 persons to a basket, everyone has a corner and everyone has a 360 degree view as opposed to BoB which carry 16 persons.
After the croissants and coffee were served and the balloons we heated, we lifted up at the same time as the sun was just begin the show its itself on the horizon. The calmness, the light, as we floated over the pagodas and plains of Bagan. Magical!. An experience I will never forget and an experience that can never be captured adequately in a photograph. After 90 mins we landed and were served champagne, - Happy Birthday Elaine.
