Over mij
My passion for photography began only ten years ago but my passion for travel began more than 40 years ago with an overland journey from England to India.
India stole my heart and became my home for 10 years and Asia became my favourite continent having travelled to almost every Asian country, including countless time to India, eight times to Burma and more recently twice to Bangladesh.
I enjoy taking photographs of people and environmental portraits, I love colour and textures.
Winning Reisreporter van het Jaar in 2013, took me outside my comfort zone. My prize was a photographic trip to Ecuador. A new continent and a new challenge, - landscape photography.
It was a wonderful trip, spectacular scenery from the heights of Andes Mountains to the Amazon Rainforest. The report of my trip is published in the Columbus magazine edition 49 and some photos are here in my gallery.

The tuk-tuk driver's.
Next to our guest house in Kumbakonam, on a stretch of wasteland about the size of three football pitches, was a small shanty town. Many of the Kumbakonam's tuk-tuk drivers lived here. I noticed this tuk-tuk with Che hand painted on the back awning and took a photo. The young daughter came out of their hut, she intrigued in what I was doing, me intrigued by how beautiful she looked in her white school uniform and gleaming gold. I showed her the photo that I had just taken, she stood next to the tuk-tuk, looking first at Che and then at me. I grabbed the opportunity to take her portrait with Che.:)
Hide and Seek
She was playing hide and seek with her brother in the temple in Mandu, with her natrual coloured shawl around her shoulders she blended into her surroundings only those eyes gave her away.......
Farmers - Devotees
I mentioned the other day that a pilgrimage can be taken at any time but mainly just prior or after a big life event. I met these Vishnu devotees in Kanchipuram, they are farmers from the same village, after the terrible, non-existent rains this year their pilgrimage was in hope of a better harvest. We spent some time with them in the temple, friendly people and wonderful photo opportunities.

Earth Peaks bezoeken
De Earth Peaks is een typische topografische formatie door stapels aarde die zich over miljoenen jaren verzamelen. De aardingsplekken veroorzaakt door korstbeweging werden verdiept en verbreed door natuurlijke kracht, en uiteindelijk werden er aardepilaren geboren. Deze aardpijlers zien er vanaf de verte levendig uit als een bos, vandaar de naam
Gewoon onderweg
De Atacama woestijn in de omgeving van San Pedro de Atacama kent een aantal highlights, zoals vulcanen, bergmeren en geysers. Als je deze streek verkent met een huurauto bezoek je natuurlijk deze bezienswaardigheden. Maar vaak is de rit naar deze highlights net zo mooi, of misschien nog wel mooier. Bovenstaande panorama kwamen we onderweg tegen toen we naar de El Tatio geysers reden.
Etenstijd!
Eén van de mooiste uitzichten in het Kruger National Park is toch wel die vanaf Olifants Rest Camp. Vanaf hier kijk je uit over de rivier. Geniet van een lekker drankje in het restaurant en geniet. Een verrekijker komt hier goed van pas! Nijlpaarden leven in en om het water, in rivieren, plassen, meren en moerassen in een groot deel van Afrika. Overdag verblijft het nijlpaard vooral in het water, zodat het beschermd is tegen oververhitting, uitdroging en zonnebrand. 's Nachts verlaat het nijlpaard het water om te grazen. Deze nijlpaarden hadden echter te veel honger om te wachten!
