Monarch

Copán ,
Honduras

In the neighborhood of copàn Ruinas is a breeding program for butterflies , for cultivated species . Here a breeding box with a host plant and caterpillars from the Monarch. Of course, less endangered species are cultivated, in a large cage you can see many of the species that live in Central America. The entrance fee is used for further research and the operation of the breeding program. Copañecas get free entry. However, poverty makes them unable to use it, working on their maiz and bean fields is their only source of food, their attempts to make some extra money with the sale of homemade dolls are moderately successful, but they have no choice.
