The cabbage patch

Chittagong,
Bangladesh

Each year during the rainy season the river floods, When it subsides leaving behind rich mineral deposits the river banks become a fertile place to grow crops and vegetables. Most of the vegetables are for export out of the valley.
As the river gets lower and lower, more ground becomes available for cultivation, but the framer has to walk further and further to fetch the water to nourish the crops.
As I have already said, we have a small moestuin here and it is one of our passionate hobbies besides photography. We spent a few hours with this cabbage farmer, helping him fetch the water but moreover learning from him. We have this year planted our winter cabbage Bangladeshi style, we will have to wait to see if the method works in vlaardingen.
