Recycled tires
Sierra Centraal,
Ecuador
Her clothes matched the sign behind her for mother and child health and the background was clear no distraction. I cannot resist these kind of tableau's. But taking portraits in Ecuador was not easy, people are very reluctant to have their photos taken. So I struck up a conversation in my very limited Spanish. She recycled tires from cars and trucks to make baskets, for want of a better word, vessels for carrying water and storage. There were heavier than I thought, but opted for the smallest she had which is now being used in my allotment. By the end of the purchase I had gained enough trust for her to allow me a few photos.
