The Pink Building
This is an amazing building in down town Oranjestad. The locals call it de " de Bolo", which means cake. It does does look like a wedding cake with the white edges. This is the evening version.
Giant Cactus
This picture i am posting specially for Grietje,yesterday you mentioned on my other photo of the chapel, that the cactus was so big, so just wanted to show how big they are with this photo, it was taken against the light so a lot of back lighting, but the silhouette makes it interesting.
Alto Vista chapel
The picturesque Chapel of Alto Vista reflects tranquility on its dramatic setting above the sea. The chapel was the island's first Roman Catholic Church, built in 1750 and reconstructed in 1953. The small, bright yellow chapel is reached by a winding road lined with white crosses marking the stations of the cross. For local Arubans of all religions, it is a special place for peace and contemplation.

I don't know if this kind of photos are allowed,but it is a holiday photo. I took this on the Arachi Beach in Aruba, while i was having a swim i saw these ladies posing on the shore,so i came out of the water quickly to sse what was happening, they were posing for some kind of contest, and i was was allowed to take a few photos, this is one of them.
Vermillion Lakes at..
A road circles this beautiful landscape just 2 mins outside the Banff townsite. It includes marshlands, tall green trees, the Rocky Mountains and of course a number of small lakes. At sunset, a salmon-pink sky sets a backdrop for an overpowering grey rock sitting to the side of a tree covered mountain. This landscape is so beautiful that people off the Trans Canada Highway stop off at the side of the road to take pictures

Hillside Houses
Berg Altena is a district just outside of Willemstad, actually the hill is called Berg Altena. These characteristic little stone houses are built against each other along the side of the hill,each one has a different color. Long ago they were little wooden houses built for the workers, they have been renovated in 1958 and the street was made wider, now they are considered historical monuments.

Iguana
Of all the reptiles running through the hot and dry sand looking for shelter in among trees and cacti, the iguana is the most remarkable. A fully-grown male can reach a length of 2 meters including his tail. Should an iguana sense danger, its initial reaction is to change color, then it tries to find a place where it can camouflage better and blend in with its surroundings, if that is not possible they run as fast as possible,and they are surprisingly fast, they raise their bodies off the ground with their legs, and sprint off at an impressive pace, almost seeming to be running on tiptoe. These precious animals are still being hunted today. They are mostly relished in soups.

Penha House
Penha & Sons,(Penha House pronounced Pen-ya) is the oldest historical building in down town Punda, , was built by the Dutch about 300 years ago, you can see clearly the dutch influence on the front facade. It is now a perfumery store with very exquisite selection of perfumes, cosmetics, and designer clothing (for both men and women).
Arachi Beach
With the weather we are having....picture this,a beach all to your self,white sand blue waters and swaying palm trees. This is the Arachie Beach on the north westerm side of Aruba.
'Cadushi' or Cactus
The plants in Aruba adapted to the climate are undoubtedly the cactus, there are many types. Instead of leaves they have prickles, with which they resist evaporation and protect themselves against browsing. The Cactus occur in various forms, some are barrel shaped, others grow like a bulb or have leave-like stalks,this one has a very extraordinary shape, looks like a hammer.
Paradise
One of the nicest beaches in Aruba is Eagle. i am not sure how it got that name, but it is the place when locals want to have a party. You’ll find it exciting too, with wide sand – so pure you’ll swear it’s sugar, and water so calm, you’ll think you’re in a pool. Took this photo while the hotel guest were enjoying cocktails with the setting sun. Please open.
Riu Palace Hotel
In Aruba, the Riu Palace is a beautifully Arabian Style designed Hotel, located right on Palm Beach, offering a most spectacular view of the Caribbean. The local people thinks this it does not fit in the ambiance of Aruba. The complex's three buildings are shaped like massive white sand castles, crowned by rounded spires, actually I think it looks like a castle. I only made a photo of the front side,to get the whole view you have to make an aerial photo that is how big it is.
Fofoti Tree (3)
I know what you are thinking, here she is again with the Fofoti Tree, actually this is the photo i wanted to up load in the fisrt place,but i uploaded the wrong one,anyway this one was taken from another point of view and onother time of day, which gives a much better view of the tree and it's exceptional form (twist). Hope this would give you a better impression of this exceptional tree.
Charlie's Bar
This popular bar, which is located in the ghost town of San Nicolas, This bar was founded in 1941 by the original Holland-born Charlie Sr. and Marie Brouns. The Second World War made San Nicholas a Boom Town. Seamen, contractors, refinery and harbor workers helped make Charlie's bar famous. When you step in side it looks like a museum ,anything you can think of is hanging in that bar,it is so full I don't think there is space to hang anything else. The outside walls also has a few ancient articles hanging on it.
Fofoti tree
The Fofoti tree is usually mistaken for the Divi Divi tree which grows in Curacao. The growth and shape of this tree, with the twisted trunk, was formed by the steady winds from the northeast that cool the island,actually it looks like an artificial tree. The Fofotoi tree is on Eagle beach is the only one of it's kind on the island. The last photo i uploaded was this tree with the setting sun and promised to upload this very special tree taken in the day time.

This is the fofoti tree on Eagle Beach on Aruba, it is featured on many postcards, posters and promotional material on Aruba for years. I made this picture while the sun was setting behind this exceptional tree. On a later date i will upload the tree taken in the day time.
Califonia Lighthouse
The old stone California lighthouse stands as a silent sentry in the area known as "Hudishibana," near the island's northwestern tip. The lighthouse is named for the U.S ship - the California - which sunk about two years previous to its construction in 1910 Perched on a high seaside elevation, the lighthouse has become one of Aruba's scenic trademarks and offers a picture perfect view of the island's western coastline.

Santa Martha Bay
Santa Martha Bay is one of the most breathtaking view on the island of Curacao,it was worth the drive up the steep hill,once up there you have to be careful, you have to stand to a certain point to take this picture,and there are very strong winds.
Vergezicht.Blue...wat
This is the Arachi Beach situated on the northwest side of Aruba, you can see the beach as far as the eye can see. The sand is so white and the water is so crystal clear. Locals go to this beach so you know it's a good one The water is so shallow, you can walk out so far and still the water is waist high. A wonderful place to have a swim. You all are right the horizon is a bit slanted,sorry about that.:=(
Hooiberg
Hooiberg (in english called Haystack) is a 168 m high (541 ft) volcanic formation on the island of Aruba. It is located almost in the center of the island and can be seen from virtually anywhere on the island. As you drive around Aruba, you'll see the Hooiberg most of the time. I took this photo on top of the Casibabri Rock Formation,gives a good view (vergezicht) of the red roof tops,huge bolders which can be seen all over the island and Cactus plants.
Floating
In the catogory (vergezichtten) landscape. Cappadocia is one of the most perfect places on earth, not only for growing wine grapes or its beautiful landscape, but also for soaring peacefully in hot air balloons . The sensation of ballooning is very gentle and it's calming effect seems to put the world below into perspective. Rock formations and world-famous fairychimneys drift into view, giving you the unmatched feeling of being above it all.

St Anna Bay
Took this picture from the Juliana Bridge. From this point you can see the Hotel Plaza at the entrance of the St.Anna bay where all the ships go in and out,you can also see the pontoon bridge in the distance. At the time I took this picture there was a huge cruise ship anchored. The most important buildings such as offices and warehouses of Willemstad were situated along the quays. The unique architecture and red tiled roofs reminds you of Amsterdam .

Playa Forti
Playa Forti, also known as WestPunt or West Point Beach, is for many a stopping point for a place to relax, take pictures or take a jump (litterly!) in the water. There is no shade on this beach. Most of the times this beach has little to no people swimming here but that can be a different story if you go on a Sunday or a national holiday day. Here you will also find black sand (one of the 3 beaches of Curacao that has black sand), which is called Santu Pretu in Papiamento.

On my visit to Canada, last august, i visited the Heratige festival, which is celebrated every year, all nationalities that lives there participate in the celebrations with food.song and dance. I took these children's picture at the chinese pavillion, they had jusr finnished there dance act. This will be my last photo. till June.
